Crisis in Mozambique: Planting "Seeds of Hope"

When business adapts to the needs of the local community, lives change.

Imagine you had to flee your home because a violent army came to town with this announcement, “Become our slave or else…”

You escape and find yourself hundreds of miles away from what used to be your home. You are starving, tired, and in shock.

You stumble into a community and are greeted with a warm, loving embrace. They feed you and immediately begin to look for ways to help you begin the journey of rebuilding your life.

That’s what Seeds of Hope in Mozambique is doing. It’s God’s love in action. Led by John Wayne and Tarryn Kennedy, Seeds of Hope raises up entrepreneurs in poultry farming ... then takes the proceeds to help families in dire need. They have taken “socially responsible business” to a whole new level.

Each of our Local Partners face unique hurdles as they implement entrepreneurial programs in their communities. Economics, politics, environment and the pandemic will shake up even the best laid plans. But in Mozambique, the challenges have been unrelenting.

The terrorist activities of ISIS have caused hundreds of thousands of people to flee the northern provinces of Mozambique right into the backyard where the Kennedys live, and Seeds of Hope operates. Additionally, changes in climate and weather caused this year’s local crops to fail. Conflict, drought and the impact of COVID-19 have created a true humanitarian crisis.

John Wayne Kennedy and his family are committed to being a source of HOPE and OPPORTUNITY to the people of Mozambique.

Seeds of Hope isn’t running away. In fact, they are quickly adapting to these realities and finding new ways to address poverty and suffering. Recently they have taken in 60 war orphans and have distributed around 5 tons of maize (corn flour) to help feed families in their community! Through entrepreneurship they are combatting the false promises of “wealth and riches” offered by ISIS and empowering people to start businesses that change lives.

Thanks to your generosity, we are privileged to partner with Seeds of Hope in the profound work that they are doing in Mozambique.
