Support Beyond Training: Pan de Vita, Quito Ecuador

Jesus Guerrero

Being a street vendor is not an easy way to make a living. But for Jesus Guerrero, it was his only option. Jesus and his family had immigrated to Quito from Venezuela and had few employment options available as an immigrant. He spent much of his day selling what he could at stoplights. It wasn’t ideal, but it helped him provide for his family until the pandemic made it no longer safe to do so.

Thankfully, a friend told him about Pan de Vida, our partner in Quito. There he found immediate help with his family’s pressing needs. Pan de Vida provided groceries for their basic needs and Jesus enrolled in the entrepreneurship program. This gave him the opportunity to better himself while not having to worry about his family going hungry.

Jesus started a business distributing chicken. He makes deliveries to his clients each morning and then spends the afternoon selling chicken from a small stand in a busy part of town. Through your generosity, our partnership with Pan de Vida means that Jesus isn’t just able to provide for his family, he now has both confidence and a plan to grow his successful business.
