Deon, Home Improvement Business
Deon is using his training to start a home improvement business.
“I’m sorry but we’re going to have to let you go.”
These are words none of us want to hear.
But, for Deon, they were all too real.
Due to unforeseen circumstances arising from the pandemic, he was laid off from his job and found himself at a crossroads. He felt the fear of wondering when his next paycheck would come—a feeling many understand. Knowing he had to provide for his family, he asked, “What can I do to make a living?”
So, he decided to start his own business. Thanks to the help of Hope’s South LA Convergence project Deon is receiving the help that he needs to make sure his business is set up for success.
Project Go, a home improvement business, specializes in projects such as plumbing, carpentry, TV mounting, and window covering installation. Deon couldn’t be prouder.
“I so appreciate this program and everything it’s done for me to grow my business,” he says. “I have an amazing mentor, Jake, who is helping me to better engage with my customer base and focus on what kinds of customers I can best serve. Convergence provided me that support system—that guidance to point me in the right direction. They believed in me more than I believed in myself.”
Thanks to the generosity of people like you, Deon is getting the training he needs to take his business to the next level so that he can continue to serve the people in South LA.
