A Tale Of Three Entrepreneurs
Fighting Poverty One Business at a Time
It is present in almost all the world’s suffering and pain. It can be described in many ways, but one thing is for sure: when your loved ones are hurting because of it, you don’t care how people define it, you want life to change. While being able to provide your family doesn’t answer every need, it certainly goes a long way toward moving people toward the dignity and hope God intends.
Here are three stories of how your generosity is helping to fight poverty in Haiti.
Pudens Charleroy Ségur came to our entrepreneur training this past spring and then was paired with a business mentor. In recent conversation he shared the launch of his Natural Juice business:
“We are working on many things during this months like: the name of the juice, design the name, register the name in the department of commerce, work on all the equipment that I need, the structure of the business....”
Élysée Vaillant is using the training he received this past spring to scale Mamavioso, his liquid soap business. Élysée shared this past month: “90% of the final benefits will be invested in education of at least one child in every municipality in the country.”
Each of the businesses in this program give back to their local communities in specific ways that help people thrive
Jean Pierre shared with me this past month: “I started with two businesses. Which is a chicken business where I sell eggs and the other one it’s a rental car business.”
Jean showed me 6 cars so far and then shared: the “C CAR RENT CAR. Where we rent people car for most occasions we have a few car now but we can’t respond to the demand.”
He goes on to share, “I started ...with 120 chicken where i have about 4 flats of eggs per day. “
Your support launched a program that trained 13 business mentors and over 30 entrepreneurs to grow businesses in Haiti.
Now we are starting to see fruit!
These are just a few of the businesses that are getting traction thanks to your generosity. While many are attempting to address poverty by providing for the basic needs of people in Haiti, we feel a mandate to help people provide for themselves. Starting new sustainable businesses is one of the best ways to help people move toward sustainable livelihoods.
