Dear Friend,
Did you know that global poverty is no longer in decline?
For three decades, the number of people living in extreme poverty – living on less than $2.15 per person per day – was declining. But that trend was interrupted due to the pandemic.
According to the World Bank, the number of people in extreme poverty rose by 70 million to a total of more than 700 million. And it was these people – the world’s poorest – who were hit the hardest. Their income losses were twice as high as the world’s richest.
AND… Did you know that growing businesses that create good jobs and strengthen communities is one of the best ways to alleviate poverty?
At Hope Ventures, our mission is to create thriving communities of entrepreneurs among the underserved – not by charity, but by economic opportunity.
By providing poverty-challenged communities the training and tools to start businesses, families can better provide for themselves.
Read this update on how that’s taking place in Ecuador.
Thank you for your generosity! Because of you, entrepreneurs are empowered to overcome poverty, provide for their families, and strengthen their communities.
Grateful for you,
Mark Goeser, CEO
Hope Ventures
