Seeds of Hope: Poultry Training Farm
Local Chicken Farmers & Trainers, Abdul & Elena
We are excited to be partnering with Seeds of Hope, the first community-based chicken processing and marketing company in Mozambique’s northern region. John and Tarryn Kennedy have been farming chickens for the past decade as a means of overcoming poverty and paving the way to a new future.
Not only will this project help start family-owned poultry businesses among the underserved, it will provide 250-400 eggs per day to local preschool students! As adults and children get to experience God’s love first-hand through education, nutrition and business creation, they get to create a new legacy for generations to come. If you ask them which came first, the chicken or the egg? They will tell you it depends on which one you ordered. They deliver both!
The Plan: Two to three families will be trained every six weeks through a hands-on training program. Trainers assist with setting up each family’s farm with chicken coops, feeders and heaters, as well as providing them with 200 birds, feed, and medication. By the end of their training program, they will be equipped to run their own family chicken farm.
Abdul and his wife Elena have worked with the Kennedys for the past two years and know the power of owning your business to change a family. They will be taking on the role as “champion farmers” to train and mentor new chicken farmers within the community.
Through your generosity, we can invest in more “Abduls and Elenas” to provide for the children and community as never before.
